The small cottage lays quietly
On the edge of the gentle lake
The dusky blue sky is wiped clear
By the soft breezes that usher you home
They are waiting for you….
Paper lanterns dance against
The budding night sky
Carried higher and higher
By that familiar laughter just beyond the gate
They are waiting for you….
Memories flood your steps and carry you
Back to another place in time
Simple cottage on the lake
Late summer evening frozen in time
They are waiting for you
You step through the gate
And now the party can begin

Linda, with this poem you just reminded me of an afternoon spent with my grandmother at my uncle’s cottage by a lake, I was about 5 years old but I remember all the adults being happy and laughing, Thank You!
