Block by Linda V.

This is not a block
Staring at the blank white paper
Thoughts too many crowded
In a brain that is overwhelmed
This is not a block
Struggling to find a muse
Within every stroke of the pen
In hesitation and apprehension
This is not a block
Running through the words
That seem to scatter
When an idea comes too near
This is not a block
Starving to say what seems unspeakable
Staring silent back from
This stark white empty sheet
This is simply denial
Spilled out across the emptiness
Hidden in plain sight
There for all to read

Snooze Button by Linda V

Laying in the crumpled sheets of midnight

Stillness hangs heavy on the air

And makes you want to hold your breath

Time is waiting

For you to close your eyes

So that it can be free to fly

And pull you swiftly to morning

The sleep that eluded you then

Now begs for your return

Frustration overcomes you

As the curtains open on a new day

Ten more minutes

Wouldn’t help

But you desire them more than words

And after another long day

Of information overload

The mind races

As midnight creeps upon you

And sleep escapes once more

Krystal by Linda V

She, from meek beginnings came

A multi sided gem in name

Tossed in oceans of uncertainty

Against rocks that always let her be

Broken and shaped by sand and edge

Her heart kept fast and held its pledge

Not held back she pushed on through

Though storms they raged and winds they blew

She, a fighter at her core

Got knocked down then begged for more

Her beauty’s just an alibi

She, with strength could never hide

You won’t crush her spirit, she won’t stop

This pretty gem will land on top

Seeker by Linda V

The rainbow of her reasons

A collection leads to why

She couldn’t give much more

And had to say goodbye

That morning when she woke

She knew she had to run

Got in that car and left it all

Looking out for number one

The note she left was simple

With colours plain to see

Every creature needs to seek this path

I just need to be free

Whether you understand or not

Is really up to you

I’ve always done for others

This is what I must do

I leave here no regrets

With no looking back

It’s time for me to live my life

To find just what I lack

Just like you by Linda V

Isn’t that just like you

To stand on the bridge you are burning

Isn’t that just like you

To break all the rules you are learning

Isn’t that just like you

To wait for pity to rain from the sky

Isn’t that just like you

Wanting someone to wipe the tears that you cry

What if you weren’t like you

What if you started anew

What if you took a new path

That wouldn’t be just like you

Alaska by Linda V

Damp and worn rubber

Turns against the long stretch of ashphalt

That snakes out before you

The windows are down

And your senses are overwhelmed

By the crisp early morning summer air

Your body longs for the soft warm rumple

Of the blankets you left behind

And the mind races

With anticipation of what lies ahead

And what you leave in the rear view mirror

As the landscape grows wilder

So do you, and so do all your distant dreams

Time by Linda V

It is something that you keep

It is something that you give

It is something that you fill

Every moment that you live

You wish you could do more

But the hours do not last

The piles just get higher

Each day becomes the past

The clock seems to be spinning

Out of control – there is no end

It is something that runs out

With each moment that you spend

You want to get it back

All these minutes you have spent

It is something that you’ll

And never know just where it went
