The glass of wine sits too comfortably
In her hand
As she glances at her ring finger
So hauntingly bare
His love is enough to hold her
In these moments of her fading youth
The liquid in the glass swirls
And her mind takes her to a place of dreams
Where he stands arm in arm with her
On the threshold of their future
Saying those words that she so wants to hear him say
Forever, for always, I do
She casually sips the wine
As she dreams
Sitting alone in the small café
They call their place
The opposing chair as empty as her heart
She doesn’t notice the waiter approach
“Do you want some more wine?” he offers
She dreamily whispers
…I do
